Overview

International students generally need a study permit for programs longer than six months at a designated learning institution (DLI). You must show you can support yourself and intend to leave Canada when your studies end, unless you transition to a pathway that allows staying.

Students who can demonstrate tuition, living costs, and travel funds

What You Should Know

Off-campus work rules and co-op permits depend on your program. A study permit is not a visa—TRV or eTA may still be required to enter Canada.
